MetalCenter - Santa Fe Springs, California
MetalCenter is a metals processor and distributor of commercial aluminum, aerospace aluminum and stainless steel located in the Southern California area. MetalCenter is a division of Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. (NYSE:RS), one of the largest metals service center companies in the United States.
MetalCenter - History
The roots of MetalCenter were founded in 1980, when the non-ferrous operations of the Reliance Steel Company were moved to Cerritos, California and called Reliance MetalCenter. At the time, the 75,000 square foot facility had just one leveling line and one shear. The division specialized in just commercial aluminum and stainless flat-rolled products.
In 1981 Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. made two acquisitions that were combined with Reliance MetalCenter - Cerritos. The first was West Metals in 1981 and the second was Circle Metals in 1983. The combination of these companies gave Reliance MetalCenter - Cerritos additional depth, increased the customer base and added leveling capacity, as well as an entry into the slitting business. By 1984 sales for Reliance MetalCenter - Cerritos had doubled. In 1986 the company name changed to MetalCenter and in 1990 the division moved to a state-of-the-art 142,000 square foot facility in Santa Fe Springs, California. Then in 1993 Eureka Metals was acquired which specialized in aerospace aluminum products.
MetalCenter - Today
Today, this division is widely recognized as a leader in the aluminum and stainless product arena. Its diverse product depth, processing capabilities and superior quality are unmatched in this metals segment of the industry.
